Edith Pendant: 18 vs 30 Inches, Alabaster vs Brass
Choose an Edith diameter and shade option with a four-variant price table, furniture examples and installation questions.
In This Article
Edith has two separate choices: an 18- or 30-inch diameter, and an Alabaster or Brass shade option. Selecting only by the starting price can conceal both decisions. The larger version changes the fixture's presence, listed body height and socket count; the shade choice changes the material treatment and price.
Quick answer: Choose the diameter against the furniture and room views first, then compare the two shade options at that diameter. Confirm the assembled hanging height and selected variant's weight before installation. A low-profile shade and a compact ceiling canopy do not establish that every suspension height or ceiling support will work.

The Four Edith Options and Their Current Prices
These USD prices come from the Edith Pendant listing checked on October 5, 2026, before additional promotional codes. Check the selected variant and checkout for the current amount.
| Option label | Diameter | Listed body height | Listed price |
|---|---|---|---|
| 18 in – Alabaster | 18 in / 45.7 cm | 5.75 in / 14.6 cm | $1,800 |
| 18 in – Brass | 18 in / 45.7 cm | 5.75 in / 14.6 cm | $1,200 |
| 30 in – Alabaster | 30 in / 76.2 cm | 7 in / 17.8 cm | $6,500 |
| 30 in – Brass | 30 in / 76.2 cm | 7 in / 17.8 cm | $2,500 |
At the time of review, changing from 18 to 30 inches adds $4,700 for Alabaster or $1,300 for Brass. Changing the shade option at 18 inches changes the price by $600; at 30 inches, the difference is $4,000. These are catalog comparisons, not statements about manufacturing cost, future discounts or relative brightness.
The product describes Antique Brass-finished hardware alongside the Alabaster/Brass shade choices. A Brass shade option and an Antique Brass hardware finish are different specification fields. Do not describe every Edith variant as an alabaster fixture or assume a finish label certifies the composition of every component.
What Changes When the Diameter Increases?
| Specification | 18-inch size | 30-inch size |
|---|---|---|
| Ceiling canopy | 6.4 × 6.4 in / 16.3 × 16.3 cm | 6.4 × 6.4 in / 16.3 × 16.3 cm |
| Light sources listed | 2 E26 sockets | 3 E26 sockets |
| Maximum hanging distance listed | 167.75 in / 426.1 cm | 176.75 in / 449 cm |
| Approximate weight in the size description | 29.54 lb / 13.4 kg | 61.95 lb / 28.1 kg |
The page gives one approximate weight per size without assigning separate weights to the Alabaster and Brass variants. Ask for the finished weight of the exact option; do not use the table as proof that both materials weigh the same. Likewise, a shared canopy dimension does not imply the same structural support requirement.
The 30-inch diameter is about 1.67 times the 18-inch diameter. Its circular plan area is about 2.78 times as large. That geometry helps explain why the larger shade can feel substantially more prominent, but it says nothing about lumens. Bulbs, shade behavior and controls determine the lighting result.
Compare Both Sizes Above a Round Table
For a centered circular shade above a round table, calculate:
Projected radial margin = (table diameter − shade diameter) ÷ 2.
| Round table | 18-inch Edith | 30-inch Edith |
|---|---|---|
| 48-inch diameter | 15-inch projected margin | 9-inch projected margin |
| 60-inch diameter | 21-inch projected margin | 15-inch projected margin |
Use a scaled circle or paper outline to compare the footprint. Then review a side elevation with the proposed bottom height. The larger circle may create the intended focal point, or it may dominate the view toward a window or artwork. The smaller circle leaves more open space but may need other lighting to complete the room.
These margins do not establish head clearance, table illumination or a universal “correct” diameter. Check seating positions, standing movement and nearby circulation separately. The dining-room size guide provides a broader framework.
One Large Pendant or Two Smaller Pendants?
Over a long table or island, one 30-inch shade and a pair of 18-inch shades produce different compositions. A pair creates two centers and requires a reviewed electrical and mounting plan; it is not equivalent to a single wider fixture.
For a hypothetical 96-inch table, placing two 18-inch shades at 24 and 72 inches from one end gives a 48-inch center-to-center spacing. The projected gap between shade edges is 30 inches, and the projected margin at each table end is 15 inches. These numbers describe that drawing only. The layout still needs review against the table width, seating, suspension, existing boxes and room lighting.
At current list prices, two 18-inch Alabaster variants total $3,600 before site work, compared with $6,500 for one 30-inch Alabaster variant. That is not a like-for-like installed-cost comparison: two fixtures can require different wiring, support and labor, and their appearance and illumination differ. Compare the completed proposal, not only the product subtotal.
Plan the Rods From the Required Assembled Height
The listing describes twelve interchangeable extension rods: four 6-inch, four 12-inch and four 18-inch rods. Do not add every rod together and treat the sum as the usable drop. The mounting arrangement, distribution of rods, connections and permitted combinations need the supplied assembly instructions.
Ask for the minimum and maximum assembled height of your selected variant and a drawing of the approved configuration. The published maximum hanging distance is not the same as the shade's body height, and the minimum assembled drop is not stated here.
Edith is described as compatible with vaulted ceilings. Provide the actual slope and mounting location for confirmation of the required hardware and supported angle. That description does not define an unlimited slope range. See the sloped-ceiling planning guide before finalizing the order.
Shade Appearance, Bulbs and Dimming
Alabaster has natural differences in tone, pattern and translucency. Brass is a separate shade treatment, so compare available views of the exact option rather than using an Alabaster photograph to predict its appearance. Request images with the light on and off when the material choice is central to the room.
The page lists included bulbs, 3000K warm white as the default, and dimming. Confirm bulb specifications, permitted wattage and compatible controls for the selected configuration. Two or three sockets alone cannot establish how bright the table will be. Match the supplied lamps and dimmer using the control compatibility checklist.
What to Send for an Edith Selection Review
Include the complete option label, furniture dimensions, ceiling height, proposed shade-bottom height, and photographs showing the ceiling and surrounding room. For a pair, add both proposed center positions. Ask for the selected variant's weight, support requirements, rod arrangement and control specifications.
Confirm delivery timing for your destination and read the return policy before agreeing to a custom change. Compare all four Edith variants, or send your shortlisted size and shade options for a project-specific review.
