I compared several horsehair sconces before ordering, and many of the less expensive options appeared to use stainless steel or iron. This one is made from solid brass, and the difference is noticeable as soon as you hold it. It feels heavy, substantial, and properly made. The natural horsehair also looks much better in person than it did in the photos.

The shape was the main reason I chose this sconce. The curve at the top is narrow and elegant, while similar designs I found elsewhere looked too wide and bulky. This version has much better proportions and looks refined on the wall without overwhelming the space.
The horsehair is what makes this fixture special. It has natural variation and movement, so it does not look artificial or mass-produced. During the day it adds texture to the wall, and at night the warm light highlights the individual strands beautifully.
I ordered the Aged Brass finish, and it is even better in person. It does not look overly shiny or like painted metal. The finish has a rich, slightly aged character that works perfectly with the horsehair. It looks especially good against our warm white walls.
